Agricultural machinery inspection checklist
Pre-operational checklist for tractors, harvesters and farm equipment. Use it before starting each day — in the field, with or without signal.
The pre-operational inspection of agricultural machinery is the check the operator runs before starting a tractor, a harvester or any field equipment. It takes a few minutes and prevents what gets expensive: a breakdown mid-harvest, a leak that turns into a major repair, or an accident that could have been prevented.
In the field the problem is not knowing what to check — it is making sure the check gets recorded. When it is done on paper or “from memory”, there is no way to prove it happened, and findings are lost before reaching whoever can resolve them.
Why use this checklist
- It prevents stoppages at critical moments. A machine that fails in the middle of the harvest window costs far more than the five minutes of the check.
- It protects the operator. Most incidents with agricultural machinery relate to faults detectable in a visual inspection.
- It leaves traceable evidence. Who checked, when, and with a photo of the finding — without depending on signal in the field.
How to use it with CaptaLog
Copy this template to your account, adapt it to your equipment, and the operator fills it in from their phone before starting up — even with no signal. The data syncs on its own when the connection returns, and every finding can become an action assigned to the right person.
