Mining PPE verification checklist
Daily per-worker check of personal protective equipment before entering the site. Filled in the field, with or without signal, leaving a record for each person.
PPE in mining is not about appearances: an expired self-rescuer, a mask that does not seal, a harness with a burst seam are the difference between going home or not. And wear gives no warning — a filter saturates, a harness splits along a seam nobody looks at — which is why PPE verification has to be daily and per worker, not an annual store-room review.
The weak point is always traceability: knowing who received what, whether it was still in date, and whether the worker knows how to use it. When a workers’ compensation insurer or SERNAGEOMIN investigates an accident, that per-person record is the first thing they ask for.
How to use it with CaptaLog
The supervisor or the worker completes the verification from their phone before the shift starts, even with no signal. It leaves a named record of which PPE was checked, its expiry and its condition, with a photo when needed. If an item is discarded, the replacement action is raised instantly.
