Shift handover checklist
Orderly handover at the front desk and in operations: till, keys, open items and incidents are recorded so nothing is lost between one shift and the next.
The shift handover is the most fragile moment in hotel operations. It is when open items get lost: the guest who asked for a late check-out and nobody passed it on, the complaint left without follow-up, the till that does not balance and only surfaces the next day. Whatever is not handed over properly turns into a complaint or a cash discrepancy.
In most hotels the handover lives in a logbook or a WhatsApp message, where everything blends together and nothing stays traceable. When you need to reconstruct what happened — an unbalanced till, a lost item, an escalated complaint — there is no clear record of who handed over what.
How to use it with CaptaLog
Copy this template to your account and each shift closes out from a phone, signed by the person leaving and the person arriving. Guest open items and faults are left as assigned actions the next shift sees immediately, without depending on someone remembering to mention them.
