Transmission line control checklist
Inspection of towers, conductors, insulators and the right-of-way — recorded in the field, with or without signal.
Transmission line control is a job of long distances and difficult terrain: towers on hillsides, corridors crossing ravines, stretches no road and no mobile signal reaches. And yet a single cracked insulator, a broken conductor strand or a tree growing under the line can cause a system outage or even a wildfire.
Line inspection lives or dies by georeferencing. There is no point detecting a corroded tower if nobody can later tell which one it was. When the record is a notebook and loose photos on a phone, the maintenance crew wastes time finding the right structure, and findings get diluted between rounds.
This checklist organises the review by structure, conductor, insulators and right-of-way, tying every finding to the tower number and its coordinates.
