Substation inspection is the routine review that keeps the heart of the electrical network running. An undetected fault in a power transformer, a breaker with an SF6 leak or a stolen earthing grid does not just interrupt supply: it can cause a fire, an explosion or electrocute personnel.
In the field the problem is rarely not knowing what to look at — it is making sure the walk gets recorded. When the round is done “from memory” or on a sheet nobody later transcribes, readings are lost, temperature trends go unseen, and there is no way to demonstrate to the regulator that the substation is being maintained.
This checklist organises the walk by zone — perimeter, transformers, switchgear, control, earthing — so nothing is left out and every finding has a photo, a time and an owner.
