Earthing verification checklist
Control of earthing systems: resistance and continuity measurement — recorded in the field, with or without signal.
Earthing verification is what guarantees that, when something fails, the current goes to earth and not through a person. An earthing system with too high a resistance, a corroded connection or — very common — a stolen length of copper leaves equipment casings live and turns any fault into a risk of electrocution or massive equipment damage.
The critical point is that earthing does not visibly fail: a system can look perfect and have an out-of-spec resistance, or a break in continuity at a buried joint. Only measurement reveals it. And when those measurements are not recorded with their value, date and method, there is no trend to detect degradation, and no certificate to back the installation up with the regulator.
This checklist organises the verification: resistance measurement with an earth tester, grid continuity, condition of electrodes and connections, with values recorded and comparable over time.
